4人のLondon Business School Business ProfessorsがThinkers 50に選ばれました
4名のLondon Business School教授陣がThinkers 50に選出されました！
今回選出されたのは、Gratton, Hamel, Kumar and Markidesの4名になります。またThinkers50とは、Michael Porterなどの著名なBusiness thinkersから2年に一度Top50人を選ぶものになります。

Four London Business School professors have achieved the impressive feat of being placed in this year’s Thinkers50 list, the definitive global ranking of management thinkers.
Professor Gratton was voted as the 12th most influential management academic in the world improving on the 18th ranking she achieved two years ago and is one of four professors at the School to be included.
Also singled out for acclaim in the prestigious was Visiting Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, Gary Hamel, who followed up closely behind in 15th.
Nirmalya Kumar, Professor of Marketing and co-director of the School’s Aditya Birla India Centre, at 26, was placed just five places above Professor of Strategic Leadership Costas Markides. Professor Kumar also won a separate award, the Thinkers50 Global Village award.
The highly regarded list comes out every two years and thinkers are judged on criteria such including originality of ideas, impact of ideas and the elusive 'guru factor'.
"It is rare to find so many people with great research and the ability to communicate that research in one place. With so many of the School’s faculty featuring in the Thinkers50 and Charles Handy who was involved in the School’s formative years receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award this was a major achievement by London Business School," commented Thinkers50 co-founder Des Dearlove.

London Business SchoolがForbes Non-U.S. 2-year Programで1位に！
ロンドンビジネススクールが、ForbesのNon-U.S.プログラム(2年制)で1位になりました。下記はロンドンビジネススクールでの発表の抜粋にとなります。
The ranking is based on a survey sent out to alumni of business schools five years after they graduated and measures return on investment.
A total of 16,000 graduates from the class of 2006 at more than 100 schools were questioned. The earnings in the first five years out of business school of the 30% of those who responded were measured against their opportunity cost (two years of foregone compensation, tuition and required fees).
The figures were adjusted to take into account cost of living expenses and earnings were measured based on a rate tied to money market yields but taxes were not deducted from the earnings gains.

Excellence in Teaching Award 2011
毎年、ロンドンビジネススクールでは全プログラムの学生の投票によるTeaching Awardが教授に授与されます。今年の受賞者は、Nirmalya KumarそしてLakshmanan Shivakumarに決定しました。
教授が学生を評価するのみならず、学生も常に教授を評価するというユニークなロンドンビジネススクールの文化は、授業の質の更なる改善へとつながり、ロンドンビジネススクールの一流教授陣を育成する土壌となっております。
ロンドンビジネススクールのDeanであるSir Andrew Likiermanは今回のTeaching Awardについて以下のように述べております。
The Excellence in Teaching Award recognises outstanding achievement and effort from our faculty in promoting London Business School's tradition of great teaching. It is unique to London Business School, is bestowed on behalf of the entire School (degree and executive education teaching) and complements the existing student awards for teaching.
The winners were determined based on feedback from Faculty, degree programmes, executive education, and past winners of the award using the following demanding criteria:
- Personal ratings from students
- Intellectual rigour and challenge of courses taught
- Effort and achievement in course development and innovation
- Amount of mentoring and peer advice provided to other faculty
- Feedback speed/quality/helpfulness to students and peers
- Contribution to development of global business capabilities in students.
- Teaching that embodies London Business School Values
Nirmalya receives consistently outstanding ratings in his teaching from students and Executive Education participants. Students taught by Nirmalya leave his classes enriched, enthused and eager
to put into practice what they have learnt. He is a highly published and cited marketing academic. More than most, he has been able to bring his own material into the classroom, providing
students access to challenging ideas and useful techniques. To quote one of his colleagues "His unique combination of top academic articles, award winning cases, and everything in between
(including many HBR articles), make him the complete academic".
Lakshmanan (Shiva), through his electives and project supervisions teaches over 400 students every year. Despite this large number of students he consistently achieves excellent teaching ratings.
To quote a few of his students "It's a privilege to be taught by him" and he is "One of the best teachers at London Business School! Definitely recommend this class". Shiva is also ready and
willing to assist his colleagues and Accounting PhD students. With the exception of a few courses offered by the accounting group, almost all courses and most faculty in the group have benefited
from material developed by Shiva.

FT MiF Rankingで1位に!!
本日発表の2011 FT Masters in Finance Post-experience Rankingでロンドンビジネススクールが1位にランキングされました。
ロンドンビジネススクールのDeanであるSir Andrew Likiermanは以下のように述べております。
I'm pleased to let you know that in the first global Masters in Finance ranking by the Financial Times, our MiF programme has been ranked No1 globally for post-experience programmes. We are the only leading business school to have made it into this year's ranking - 11 institutions were shortlisted but only three were directly comparable in terms of the type of programme offered.
Today's announcement follows the encouraging news that 85% of our MiF graduates last year found a job within four months of finishing their studies, up 13 percentage points on the previous year.
As with the other rankings compiled by the Financial Times, today's ranking is based on questionnaires completed by alumni who have been in the workplace for three years since graduation and by business schools themselves.

ロンドンビジネススクールがケースライティングコンペティションで優勝しHBSのケースに採用!!
ロンドンビジネススクールのMBA2011の学生であるNeil SahniとLuca Simonazziの2名が2011 Reaching Out MBA Case Writing Competitionで優勝するという快挙を成し遂げました。更に、彼らの作成したケーススタディがHarvard Business Schoolにより公表されることとなりました。

A team of two MBA2011 students, Neil Sahni and Luca Simonazzi, have recently been awarded full publishing privileges after winning the first place Award of Excellence for their comprehensive analysis and case write-up submission in the 2011 Reaching Out MBA Case Writing Competition. Neil and Luca competed against MBA students, alumni and professionals worldwide when submitting a proposal in December 2010 for a potential MBA case on an LGBT-themed topic of their choice; their proposal was shortlisted amongst five globally, after which each team was given a research grant to conceptualize and develop a robust analysis and comprehensive case-write up, teacher’s addendum as a final submission to the judging committee.
Neil’s and Luca’s case, entitled “Grindr – the impact of mobile app location-based dating” looks at the explosive growth and unique revenue model of a GPS-technology social networking mobile app
- with over 1.8 million users and growing in 190 countries worldwide since its 2009 launch. It has expanded from an otherwise exclusively gay target to a wider mainstream market. The case creates
opportunities for compelling discussions on marketing, entrepreneurship, technology ventures, ethics, and societal issues.
As winners of the case competition, Neil and Luca were awarded US$ 5,000. Their case will be published by Harvard Business School press for distribution to all MBA programmes worldwide, and will
be included in Reaching Out MBA Case Library, which is distributed by the European Case Clearing House.
The Case Writing Competition began in 2006 to build a library of high quality, well written, and solidly researched MBA-level business school cases that address contemporary lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues. Its sponsor, the annual Reaching Out MBA conference, is the preeminent MBA educational and career conference for MBA LGBT students worldwide.

Prince of Wales (チャールズ皇太子)がロンドンビジネススクールの学位を取得されることとなり、St James’s Palaceにて、学校関係者とともに授与式が行われました。

On Monday 23 May, London Business School awarded the Prince of Wales an honorary degree in a ceremony at St James’s Palace. Joined by 100 guests, including members of our faculty, business leaders and academics, the ceremony was performed by Sir John Ritblat, chairman of our governing body.
The degree celebrates the outstanding work of His Royal Highness and recognises his dedication and longstanding commitment to business and corporate social responsibility, a cause which has gained widespread acceptance in the world of business over the decades he has been its champion.
Our School seeks to have a profound impact on the way the world does business and His Royal Highness has sought to galvanise business leaders to look at and to do things differently, to tackle social and economic problems at the same time as developing flourishing businesses.
His Royal Highness encouraged us to continue to raise awareness of such issues: “This is where business schools such as yours have such a vital role to play. Should you succeed in successfully building sustainability and an understanding of resilience into the heart of future business models, then the effect could be quite simply transformative. This needs leaders who can think systemically, who are willing to challenge the status quo where necessary, and who will inspire and encourage others to drive not just incremental change but transformational change too.”

Japan Earthquake Relief Fund
まず、はじめに、日本におられる皆さまのご家族、ご友人がご無事であることを心よりお祈り申し上げます。
ここUKでも、日本のために少しでも何かできないかと、UK留学中の学生により、Japan Earthquake Relief Fundが立ち上がりました。
JERFは日本人学生有志を中心に募金活動を行うサイトであり、3月17日現在、英国の30の大学、大学院、コミュニティーが参画し、ロンドンビジネススクールもその中で主要な役割を担っております。募金額は4日間で約£18000となっており、今後も増えていくと思われます。
この寄金が日本の被災者の皆様のお役にたてれば幸いです。

Tattoo 2011!!
2月26日にロンドンビジネススクールの年間最大行事でもあるTattoo 2011が開催されました。今年も例年通り1200人もの人が訪れ、大盛況に終わりました。
今年のJapan Clubの活躍はその中でも素晴らしく、2大イベントである、LBS Got Talent (タレントショー)、Mr & Miss LBS Tattoo 2011 (ファッションショー)では会場を大いに沸かせました!! 更に、Tattoo 2011 After PartyにおいてもMBA2012の日本人学生がDJとなり、集まった400人を大いに盛り上げました。
このイベントを通じてロンドンビジネススクールにおける日本人のプレゼンスが大いに高まったのは言うまでもありません!!!

FT Global MBA Rankingで3年連続1位に!!
本日発表の2011 FT Global MBA Rankingでロンドンビジネススクールが3年連続で1位にランキングされました。今年は、University of Pennsylvania, Whartonも同1位にランキングされております。2位以下は、Harvard Business School、INSEAD、Stanford University GSBの順となっております。

In this year's rankings, our full-time MBA programme has again been ranked number one in the world, joint with Wharton as in 2009. We have now been ranked number one for the last three years, and have been in the top ten since the ranking was launched.
